Mural Tour Recap

The tour is about 8 miles long. Typically the tour will cover many, but not all, of following locations:

-- Tranquility- Ignacio Garcia. Commissioned by Banner University.

1 Monarch Cowboy - Joe Pagac. Tucson is an important stop on the 2800 mile migration to and from Mexico (El Rosario in Michocan)

-- Generation Cool - Slobby Robby. Collector. Show on Netflix.

2 The Thinkers - Eleanor Kohless. 1996. Mix of characters from 4th Ave. Beano the dog.

3 Crested Eclipse @ Skybar - Rock Martinez. Crested Saguaros are a mutation. Rare. About 60 in Saguaro National Park. Looks like broccoli.

4 Tallboys Cantina - Jenna Tomasello. Mos Eisley Cantina on Tattooine . . . with burgers.

5 Sonora- Mata Ruda @ Historic Y. Patchwork of the 30 non-profit organizations that use the building.

6 Boy reading to Elephant - based on photograph by Gregory Colbert.

9 All Souls Procession - Susan Johnson, creator of All Souls Procession. Started in 1990 with a few friends when father died, Inspired by day of the dead. Now, at least in non-covid, 100k.

10 Critters on a Bike- Joe Pagac.

11 Epic Rides - Joe Pagac. Kickstarter funded for $18,000. 130'x30'.

12 Agave Goddess - Rock Martinez & Cristina Perez. Mayahuela is the name of the Aztec agave goddess. Associated with fertility and nourishment.

13 Greetings from Tucson - Victor Ving and Lisa Beggs on Greetings tour.

14 Viva La Mujer - Paco Velez Anzueto. On the wall of his gallery, Studio 1: A Space for Art and Activism. Homage to las adelitas (women soldiers) of the mexican revolution (1910-20) and to our warrior women today.

15 - Wildcat Maze - Take on the Tohono O'odham symbol.

16 - Tohono O’Odham - Saguaro harvest.

-- Toole collection - assortment of murals on side of building.

17 Finding Nemo - Joe Pagac. Something perceived as ugly having beauty within it. Homeless models.

-- Borderlands Brewing - Joe Pagac. Trippy!

18 La Madre - Rachel Rios and Carlos Valenzuela. "You are my other me". 

19 Juicy- Isaac Caruso. Fruit still life.

20 Running of the Pinatas - Ignacio Garcia. Boy is his son. Inspired by a trip up Reddington Rd where they were chased by bulls.

21 Desert Soul - El Mac. Sleeping woman holding Saguaro flower.

22 Pink Chevy - Danny Martin

23 Sacred Heart of Tucson - Lex G Jurassic. Modernist.

-- Split Screen - Amir Fallah. Old fire station now the Museum of Contemporary Art.

24 WaveLab - Diego Roa (self portrait). Recording studio for Iron & Wine, Calexico, Neko Case.

-- Dona, Claw, Miss 17 - Female graffiti artists who started in the 1970s. This from 2004. Worked into new building.

25 Vergiss - Fin Dac. Graphic novel look.
